Brighter Energy’s management has extensive experience in renewable energy development and construction, financial analysis, and project management. In addition, they are assisted by a highly qualified Advisory Board and have access as required to a network of subject matter experts and staff support. Michael Cole – President

Mr. Cole has spent eighteen years working in clean energy and sustainability with an additional four years in project management at Bechtel. He has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Stanford University. He is experienced in the full energy development process with expertise in project identification, analysis, planning, execution, and cost/schedule control.

Mike has identified and developed utility-scale opportunities in wind energy and solar energy including conceptualizing and initiating development of a 4,000 MW offshore wind project in Ontario, Canada where he was able to negotiate a joint development agreement with Bechtel Enterprises and Dundee Energy. Unfortunately, the Ontario government placed a moratorium on offshore wind development.

He has a strong understanding of energy markets and technologies and has expertise in structuring cost saving net-metered solar projects for commercial, industrial, and agricultural customers. He has also secured seven USDA grants for rural small business and agricultural producers for solar energy products and value-added processing.

In addition to solar and wind energy development, Mike has prepared feasibility studies and business plans for ethanol production, food processing, waste treatment, recycling, co-generation, and various agri-businesses. He has organized and managed agricultural cooperatives and co-founded a waste recovery company. He started his engineering career at Bechtel where he oversaw cost controls for the design and construction of the Disney-MGM studio theme park and was charged with ensuring that $300 million in real estate was identified, acquired, and cleared of utility for a billion-dollar freeway project.

ADVISORY BOARD

Michael Engstrom


Mr. Engstrom has over 40 years of experience in engineering, procurement, construction management. A former Principal Vice President and senior executive of Bechtel Corporation who served as General Manager of Bechtel’s civil engineering business in Latin America and who held management positions on multi-billion dollar mega-projects, including the Jubail Industrial City, the Kemano Hydroelectric project and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. Mr. Engstrom also provided executive management for numerous major civil projects and served on joint venture management boards. He also served as an officer in the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps and received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah and a M.S in Civil Engineering-Construction from Stanford University.

Timothy Glenn

Mr. Glenn is top-tier finance professional with particular expertise in analyzing and developing highly complex tax-equity finance deals. Having been involved in tax-credit financing for decades, Mr. Glenn has completed tax-equity finance deals for railcars, airplanes, and low-income housing; however, his focus during the past years has been on structuring renewable energy tax-equity finance transactions. Mr. Glenn has held various senior positions related to deal execution and structuring with Banc of America, The Montrose Group, GATX Capital, and TXL Corporation. Mr. Glenn received his B.A. in Economics and M.B.A. from Brigham Young University.

Sandra Wight

With over 20 years of experience in U.S. taxation, Ms. Wight has extensive expertise in assisting global corporations, domestic companies and individuals with complex tax issues. Ms. Wight currently serves as a partner at Ernst & Young LLP managing engagements involving complex, cross-border tax issues and related policy, compensation and compliance issues. She received her B.S. in Accounting and Masters of Accounting degrees from Brigham Young University. She is a CPA in Utah, is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and serves on the BYU School of Accountancy Advisory Board.
